Raised in March, 1942, by Popski (Vladmir Peniakoff) a Russian refugee who had spent some time at Cambridge University and served as an engineer with a French company in Egypt. He had acquired a commission on the General List and served with the Libyan Arab Force where he was ordered to form a Libyan Arab Commando to gather intelligence in the area of ~hat va~t feature east of Benghasi, the Jebel Akhdar.
